The mission of GoldieBlox is to inspire the next generation of female engineers. Founded in 2012 by Debbie Sterling, an engineer from Stanford, GoldieBlox is a book series + construction toy starring Goldie, the girl engineer character who is more than just a princess. As Goldie goes on adventures, she solves problems by building simple machines. As girls read along, they get to build what Goldie builds, learning basic engineering principles along the way. GoldieBlox leverages girls’ strong verbal skills and love of storytelling to spark an early interest in science, technology, engineering and math.
In a world where men largely outnumber women in science, technology, engineering and math...and girls lose interest in these subjects as early as age 8, GoldieBlox is determined to change the equation. Construction toys develop an early interest in these subjects, but for over a hundred years, they've been considered "boys toys". By designing a construction toy from the female perspective, we aim to disrupt the pink aisle and inspire the future generation of female engineers.
